...5.4.14...

God of Grace,
teach us today to do no harm, to do good,
and assist us so that we may stay in a loving relationship
with you and our neighbor.
help us today to be an answer to another's prayer,
so that we may be one of your signs of hope
in the world you love.
Amen.

John Wesley's prayer based on the Three Simple Rules,
use frequently throughout the confirmation journey.

we had the opportunity today.
to visit our daughter's church.
today was confirmation Sunday for seven youth.
this is a prayer that we, as a congregation, spoke.
it brought tears to my eyes.
and i wasn't sure why.
in leaving the service there was a basket.
for recycling the programs.
i put mine in along with everyone else.
but before we got too far.
i had sarah go back and get a program back.
i have struggled at work, for quite some time.
because no matter how i disagree with "the corporation".
i am at least making a difference to my patients.
i haven't felt like i have been making a difference.
because they aren't rehab candidates.
because how can i help them if they don't want to help themselves...
etc.
etc.
but today.
in that aha moment...
that only He can provide.
He said.
through the roar of a congregation.
Help us today to be an answer to another's prayer,
so that we may be one of your signs of hope in the world you love.
Amen.
this was my reminder.
this is why i do what i do.
not for me.
but for His glory.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday {evening}.
just BE.
robin.
